Missing Running - Try a Tri?

1 mile

That's all I have ran this week.

Missing Running.

Going for a massage today and hopefully I will feel better.

Also I'm thinking of training for a Triathlon, just a sprint  (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run).

My theory is this, my glutes are weak and need to be strengthened and that is why my back and hip are acting out (researched this issue online and that's what one of the primary culprits is for a back pain running)
So what better way than riding a bike and swimming?

I only have a mountain bike and if I asked my husband about buying another bike I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go over well. That's why a sprint sounds like the best option. Plus I wouldn't be racing, it would just be to finish.

I don't even know when any of these races would be, still need to research that out.

Our God is An Awesome God

Running in a Race

Running in Life

Fighting in a Race

Fighting in Life

Ever feel that if you take one more hit, your down and it's over?
Ever feel like if you have to take one more step you will faint and fall?
Ever feel like if you hear one more terrible thing you will break into a million pieces?

This weekend I ran 10 miles on a treadmill and the last 2 miles I felt as if I just didn't want to take another step going nowhere. I felt that I couldn't make it and that I was done. But a funny thing happened, I decided I was going to run, run whether or not I would fall off the treadmill because I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me! Many people would say, well that's silly Kris, your just running, your not doing anything that requires faith to be used. God says ALL and that means ALL regardless if I'm fighting for my life or fighting to stay on the treadmill, He says ALL and He says what He means. The just shall live by FAITH whether or not it's something as simple as running or as hard as fighting for your life. See my life has not been easy,  I have come to despair and tried to end my life (almost 9 years ago) and then I have fought for my life but not just in my own strength, it's been God's Grace that I'm alive and that I can fight because He is the one strengthening me and He is the one holding me up even when my knees are shaking and tears are rolling down my face.

" Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ "

Isaiah 41:10

God's Grace abounds towards us, to do the things we think we cannot do, to go the places we think we cannot go and to say the things we cannot say on our own. Without Him we are nothing. He is our strength. He is our Rock. He Loves US, He loves us enough that He sent His Son to die for us so that we can have life everlasting with Him. He does not send us the battle, He gives us the strength and the might to Win the Battle. If it was not for His Grace, I would not be here right now writing this, He has Saved me. He has not only saved me from eternal damnation but He saves me from all attempts of the enemy to tear me down and destroy me. He gives me life, life abundant, life everlasting.

Romans 10:13

If you feel like you have been fighting and the battle seems to be too much, know this, God's Here and He has your Victory and it's right around the corner.

"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win." 1 Corinthinas 9:24

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

New Shoes!!!

I am the new owner of these babies:

Saucony PowerGrid Cortana

Pic from

Went down on Monday to our local running specialty store, Runner's Soul, and tried and ran in a couple different pairs of shoes and these fit and felt the best.  They had to order my size since they were out of them but they came in yesterday and my hubby, Miss Bean and I went and picked them up. My Hubby also bought me some of these:

In Pink :) Excited to try them out this week, if snow/slush is not gone I will be trying them out on the treadmill at the gym.

I ran 10 miles yesterday at the gym, 10 miles of nowhere. 10 miles @ 1:30:33
That's all, really can't review on a treadmill run other than just grin and bear it.

Happy Running!!

Oh Happy Day!!

Today was a day of rest for me. I went shopping with my mama and I'm happy to say that I'm officially down to my pre-baby size, whoo-hoo!!

I went from a size 12 after she was born in February to a size 8 in July to a size 4!!
I'm so pumped right now that I can fit into my jeans again!!
My shirts aren't exactly fitting because of the boobies being filled with milk and my waist and "love handle" area are still needing to lose about 2 inches but I'm happy to say that I don't feel fat anymore.

Hallelujah!! Praise the Lord!! I'm so thankful for the gift of running!!

Oh Happy Day!!

She was worth every pound and inch gained and every pound and inch lost!!

Put my clothes on

Ended my exercise streak today...only made it 11 days. I did walk but it was shopping walking and I didn't really feel like it was true exercise. Plus I was getting burnt out with the extra walking and cross training. I think I would of been fine if Miss Bean hadn't been teething the last two weeks and I lost sleep but when I get tired I get grouchy and it was ruining my mood. I'll try this again maybe in a year but, I have to admit I enjoy my rest days. The days I workout or run I'm hardcore and give it my all and my rest days I do the exact opposite just chill and it seems to balance itself out that way. It was fun while it lasted though, Thanks Mom vs Marathon for inspiring me! Sorry I couldn't gut it out with you but I'm sure you'll rock it :)

Longest Run Post Babycakes

Saturday I ran 9 miles which is the farthest I've ran since Miss Bean was born.

Yes, it took over 10 months to accomplish something that some mom's have run less than 6 months after they gave birth but, they didn't gain 74 lbs over their pregnancy and they got to run during their pregnancy.

Although I looked forward to running my longest run yet I wasn't in much of a mood to run yesterday.
I kept procrastinating and my hubby finally said, you better go because your just delaying the inevitable. I thought "I KNOW!!" So I reluctantly put on my two layers of tights, two layers of Under Armour cold gear shirts and prepared my Nuun and hydration belt (since I'm nursing I found I have to have water on runs longer than 45 minutes).  It was cold outside, 30 degrees to be exact and I was not wanting to be cold.

I got out of the house at 11:49 after some quick warm up exercises and started my run.
Stiff and sore were the words to describe my legs but I kept trucking. I decided to run a new route yesterday for a change of scenery but 1/2 mile into the run I realized this probably wasn't the best decision because 1) there was about a foot of shoulder to run on that was gravel and slanted into a small ditch for majority of the run and 2) HILLS, 5 of them, and 1 that was 10% grade for a 1/4 mile...grrr.

After about 4.5 miles a side path showed up which was a relief and it was flat after about 5 miles which was made me much happier. I cruised for 3 miles tackling two more small hills and than my last mile I decided to kick up the pace because I still had energy in me. I was surprised myself with running my last mile in 8:09 after running 8 miles with hills. Next week is an easy week full of easy pace runs that are 3 and 4 miles so next week will be nice however, I will more than likely be running these runs with the stroller so it does take some of the "easiness" out of them.

I also have been "exercise streaking" with Mom vs Marathon for the month of January. I have worked out everyday this week for at least 30 minutes except for today but I still have time and probably will lift some weights or do a Pilate's video.

Here are my stats for the 9 miler:
Mile 1: 10:09
Mile 2:  9:59
Mile 3:  9:38
Mile 4:  9:51
Mile 5:  9:27
Mile 6:  9:16
Mile 7:  9:32
Mile 8:  9:55
Mile 9:  8:09
Total:  1:25:59   Avg Pace: 9:33/mile

I also am thinking about running a half marathon in either March or April with my running mentor, he is in his 60's, a marathoner and he still runs 8-9 minute miles, he currently is recovering from an injury but should be in shape by that time and the race we were talking about doing on March 1st filled up so now we are looking for another one to run either in Seattle or Spokane/Coeur d'Alene.
Anyone know of any races in the those areas?

2012 Goals

My goals for this year are:

RUN 1,000 Miles (going to join Tall Mom on the Run's club)

PR, PR & PR!!

Pretty simple at this point, I know PRing will be pretty easy since I haven't ran very many races. The hardest will be the 1/2 marathon but I believe that I will be able to accomplish that with some good ol hard work in my training.

What are your goals for 2012?

Happy New Year!!
